Explore the versatile and exciting artform of freehand machine embroidery. Use your sewing machine to draw, embellish and embroider whilst also learning simple applique methods. You'll create textured, layered samples of your own design with a range of fabrics and threads and discover many ways to decorate clothing, cushions, accessories and artwork. Some basic experience of using a sewing machine necessary for this class.

New Embroidered Cushion Workshop

Design, make and decorate a cushion cover (envelope style)

Sundays 16th SEPTEMBER or 23rd SEPTEMBER 2012 10.30am - 4pm 

Cross Street Studio, 14 Cross Street, Hove 

Learn how to incorporate a simple design with freehand machine embroidery and applique to make your own individual cushion cover. The workshop will begin with choosing fabrics and planning your design based on your own pictures/motifs (or choose from templates provided). You'll then be shown how to transfer your design to fabric using simple applique, and after a practice session further embellish with freehand machine embroidery max class size 5.  Prior experience with using a sewing machine necessary for this class.

Cost £55 inc all materials (though feel free to bring fabrics if you wish).

New Customised Clothing Workshop

Transform clothing and accessories with fabric manipulation and decorative sewing skills
Sunday June 17th 10.30am-4pm.

Revive and recycle an item from your wardrobe (or choose to work on a new sewing project). You will be shown ways of transforming garments with techniques such as freehand machine embroidery, cutwork and several types of applique. The first part of the workshop will focus on practising on sample fabrics,
Then in the afternoon selecting which are the most effective and applying them to produce your own unique personalised piece of clothing.

(Some basic sewing skills necessary for this class)
